Creston

Rocky Anderson, 62, of Creston, formerly of the Zion area, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Burial will be in the Orient Cemetery in Orient. Visitation with family receiving friends will be held prior to the service from 1- 2 p.m. Monday.

Rocky Blaine Anderson was born Jan. 29, 1960, the son of Richard “Chub” and Judith A. (Walters) Anderson in Creston. He was educated in East Union Schools.

In 1981, Rocky married Christy Scheel. They made their home in the Zion area. They later divorced. Early on, Rocky worked at Wellman Dynamics. He worked for years at Farm Services of Orient, working with anhydrous application and overall repairs and maintenance. Rocky also worked for the city of Creston in the parks department and as dog catcher. His most recent work, was operating a dirt moving business. Rocky loved to hunt and fly his gas model airplanes.

Rocky is survived by sister-in-law, Paula Miller of Lorimor; cousins: Annie Davis of Creston, Salli Davis of Afton, Dan Davis, Tony (Stacy) Davis, Jack “Howie” Davis and Polly (Kelly) Critz, all of Orient; dear friends, Mark and Danielle Hoepker of Orient and Mike Kolash of Van Wert; aunts and uncles: Janie Davis, Dolly Dibel, Delores Anderson of Georgia, Softie Hill of Florida and Evelyn Knotts of Texas; niece, Rebecca (significant other Bo) Miller and their children, Olivia, Ashley and Addison Franklin of Osceola; two nephews: A.J. Miller and Jesse Miller (and his son Ethan) and his faithful dog, Max.

Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents: Cal and Minnie “Pong” Claiser, Webb Walters and Tom and Pauline Anderson; his brother, Greg Miller and aunts and uncles: Jack Davis, Robert Anderson, Eb Hill and Trish Knotts.
