Carolyn (Stewart) Brown, 85, of Creston, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at her home in Creston. A celebration of life service, will be held with family receiving friends from 9-11 a.m. and service to follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston of the First Christian Church will officiate the service.
Lunch will be served following the service at First Christian Church in Creston. Burial will be in the East Fairview Cemetery in Lenox after lunch, approximately 2 p.m.

Carolyn Ann (Stewart) Brown was born May 1, 1937, the daughter of Roy Franklin and Bernice Louise (Davidson) Welch. Carolyn attended Lenox school, graduating with the class of 1955 as valedictorian.
On June 23, 1955, Carolyn was united in marriage to Frank B. Stewart in Lenox, settling in the Creston area. From this union their daughter, Lisa was born. The two later divorced. In October 1978 Carolyn began her career as the first customer service representative for First National Bank and remained there for 27 years, retiring in May 2006.
Carolyn took much pleasure in being a very active mother helping with dance, Girl Scouts and the PTA. She could easily become a mother to everyone and in many cases was. Many years later Carolyn remarried and divorced.
Carolyn was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston and a former member of the First United Church of Lenox. As a teenager, Carolyn and her two sisters would sing while their mother would read the church prayer.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Denny) Quam of Creston; two sisters, Mary Louise Stewart of Hardin, Montana, and Vonda Jean Rankin of Ames; grandson, Derek (Elizabeth) Quam of Boone; four great-grandchildren: Darian, 8, Shaun, 7, Nayeli, 4 and Jace, 11 months; two nieces and three nephews.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Stewart and brother in-law, Berle Stewart.
