Chris Prescott, 71, of Creston, passed away Oct. 26, 2022, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center with Rev. Mary O’Riley officiating. Inurnment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Charles Chris Prescott was born Sept. 26, 1951, the son of Charles Junior and Maxine Opal (Lundy) Prescott in Red Oak. The family moved to Creston when Charles was a young boy. Chris was educated in Creston Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1969. Following graduation, in 1971, Chris enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He received his honorable discharge in 1973 and returned to civilian life in Iowa.

Charles was united in marriage to Andrea Sullivan on Sept. 28, 1974, at the Catholic church in Creston. Two daughters were born to bless this union: Samantha and Leigh. The couple would later divorce. Also in 1974, Chris began working for BNSF as a track maintenance worker and remained a faithful employee until his retirement in 2013.

Chris was a member of the Creston Eagles Lodge, Creston VFW Post #1797 and the Maintenance Away Railroad Union.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his sister, Susan Lyons and sister-in-law, Jackie Prescott.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Samantha (Kyle) Krantz of Creston and Leigh (Squire) Smith of Creston; four grandchildren: Cole and Camden Smith and Harrison and Jameson Krantz; a brother, Dennis Prescott of Westlawn, Pennsylvania; sister, Angela DeWalle of Homestead; his ex-wife, Andrea Prescott of Creston; a nephew, Shane DeWalle; nieces: Sondra Teslik and Brianna Lyons; other relatives and extended family.
