John D. Ford

John Ford, 70, of Creston, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at his home. Celebration of life memorial services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at The Lobby, 301 W. Adams Street in Creston. Burial will be at a later date.

John Dell Ford was born May 24, 1952, to George Audrey and Lorraine Lucille (Eddy) Ford in Greenfield. He was educated in Greenfield and Creston schools. John served in the United States Marines from 1969-1971. After his honorable discharge, John worked as a UPS delivery driver in Omaha, Nebraska.

In December 1978, John married Debra Ann Kingery in Creston. Together, they had five children: Jason, Nathan, Karrie, Josh and Joey. They lived and worked in Creston. John and Debra later divorced.

On Feb. 29, 2000, John married Kathy Ann Simpson in Creston. This marriage added Kathy’s six children to the family: Leah, Cari, Rachel, Jenny, Tammy and Carly. John did a lot of factory work at Gummy Bear/Trolli in Creston, Osceola Foods and most recently with Michaels Foods of Lenox.

John is survived by his wife Kathy Ford of Creston; their children, Jason Ford of Creston, Nathan Ford of Perry, Josh Ford and Joey (Tiana) Ford, both of Perry and Carl (Crystal) DeGonia of Diagonal, Karrie (Venky) Ford-Murugan of Kansas City, Missouri, Leah (Scott) Crawley of Creston, Cari (Casey) Baker of Gravity, Rachel Claiser of Creston, Jenny (Kurtis) Fooken of Creston and Tammy Jessen of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Peggy Ford of Creston and Linda (Harold) Diers, of Creston, 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and many other extended family.

John was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Tiffany Davis and Christopher Ahrens; a sister, Illene Coverdale; two brothers, Jim and Ron Ford and a nephew Houston Diers.
