Bertha Jensen, 103, of Creston, died Oct. 10, 2022, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston. A Celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. Pastor John Rutz will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation, with family receiving friends will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the church.

Bertha Anna (Herzberg) Jensen was born April 11, 1919, the daughter of Albert H. and Ida M. (Sunderman) Herzberg at home, northwest of Clarinda. She was educated in Clarinda area schools.
On Dec. 20, 1939, Bertha was united in marriage to Clyde S. Jensen in Clarinda. They farmed in Adair and Union counties, moving to Creston in 1981. Clyde passed away in 1999. Bertha worked at Spurgeon’s Mercantile in Creston for many years and at S & L of Creston.
Bertha was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston and a former member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Clarinda.
Bertha is survived by her daughters, Nadine Scadden of Creston and Joyce (Gary) Keating of Winthrop; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Bernard Herzberg of Creston; brother-in-law Clarence Jensen of Des Moines and many other extended family.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Marilyn Proctor; a grandson, Brian Scadden; granddaughter, Melissa Scadden; two sons-in-law, Johnny Warner and Melvin Scadden and 18 siblings.
