Lois J. Erickson

Lois Erickson, 95, of Creston, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. Celebration of life memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Pastor Jodi Rushing and Pastor Sheila Sutton will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimor Cemetery in Lorimor. Open visitation, with family present to receive friends will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3. at Powers Funeral Home in Afton.

Lois Joan Erickson was born May 23, 1927, to Opal Mercedes (Denly) and Frank Edward Day in Afton. She graduated from Afton High School in May 1945. Following graduation, she taught country school for a brief time.

Lois was united in marriage to Hugh Edwin Erickson on April 12, 1946, in Osceola at the Methodist Parsonage. They lived and farmed with his brother in Lorimor all their married life until moving to Afton in 1996. Lois was a member of the Methodist Church in Afton, She was a member of Survivor Iowa and U.M.W. Club, both through the Methodist Church. She was also part of a neighborhood club and garden club.

Lois is survived by one son David (Dee) Erickson of Lorimor; three brothers: Robert (Regina) Day of Creston, Max (Frances) Day of Palm Beach Garden, Florida, Richard (Carolyn) Day of Indianola; two granddaughters, Darcie Erickson and Deborah (Edward) Phillips; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister Katherine Arlene Day; her husband Hugh in 2006, sister Carol (Bob) Miller and grandson David Franklin Erickson in 2022.
