Rod Sprague, 56, of Creston, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Celebration of life memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Cyndy Ripperger will officiate. Burial will be private in Grant Cemetery, south of Atlantic.

Rodney Jay Sprague was born on Aug. 27, 1966, the son of Carroll Jay and V. June (Hartman) Sprague in Creston. Rod was educated in Creston Schools graduating in 1985.

Rod had two children, Jarryn and Macie, from a previous marriage. They later divorced. Rod worked mainly construction jobs, working for Winterstein Construction, Kinkade Industries, Sterling John’s team, Max Smith Construction and the Cottrell’s.

In 2003, Rod partnered with Virginia Harlan and together they had a son, Jakob. Rod lived most of his life in the Creston area.

Rod was affiliated with NASCAR of Corning and served in the National Guard.

Rod is survived by his children: Jeremy Liford of Clarinda, Jarryn Sprague and Macie Sprague, both of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Jakob McIntosh of Creston; brother, Terry (Jaye) Sprague; sister, Pam (Mark) Loudon of Creston; one granddaughter, Hayven Sprague; many cousins, nieces and nephews and his fur baby cat, Tigger.

Rodney is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; a nephew, Nick Sprague and numerous aunts and uncles.
