Dorothy Louise Jackson was born Nov. 19, 1939, the daughter of John M. and Edna L. (Cecil) Parkins, in Union County, Iowa. She attended Union County #5 Country School and was an active member of 4-H. She graduated from Creston High School in 1958.

On June 21, 1962, Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Eugene Jackson at Jerusalem United Methodist Church in rural Creston. They lived in several places while Charlie was active in the service until returning to Creston in 1967. Daughters Bonnie, born in 1963, and Juanita, born in 1969, were welcomed home to the proud parents.

Dorothy was a stay at home mom until 1977 when she began working at Creston Community Schools in the cafeteria. Later she went on to work in Greater Community Hospital cafeteria where she worked for 20 plus years. Following her retirement from the hospital, she went to work at Walmart before finally retiring in 2015. Dorothy was an active member of Jerusalem Methodist Church all her life. She enjoyed square dancing, being a 4-H leader and was a member of the Kitchen Band. Dorothy filled her days with family, friends and coffee. She enjoyed countless coffee dates with her many friend groups as well as dining out with friends and Bunko ladies. Among her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had a goodie in the kitchen and a smile on her face. She loved feeding those around her. She will be deeply missed.
