Beth Ann (Eatinger) Olson was born Nov. 12, 1944, daughter of Freda (Fulton) and Howard Eatinger, in Orient. Beth graduated from Greenfield High School in 1962.
Beth married Gary D. Standley in Greenfield, and two children were born of this marriage, Michael Todd Standley and Angela Lynn Standley. Beth was a homemaker, worked different jobs while raising her children, loved being a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield where she played the organ. Beth and Gary divorced around 1978. Beth later married Gerald Kenyon and moved to Creston. They divorced a few years later, and Beth moved back to Greenfield.
On May 23, 1986, Beth married Curt A. Olson. Not only did Beth meet the love of her life, but she gained three step-children: Amy Vincent, Mike Olson and Matt Olson. Beth worked at K-Mart as an Automotive and Sporting Good Manager for many years until K-Mart closed its doors. Beth then worked for Iowa State Savings Bank as a Teller/Cashier until an early retirement due to the sudden and unexpected death of her son, Michael. Beth’s retirement allowed her to spend more time with family and friends, camp in their RV, go on many vacations, crochet, china paint, work in her yard and garden, can many different delicious foods and attend more events with Curt.
After Curt’s death in 2012, Beth struggled with yet another significant loss. Beth joined First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston and adopted a cat, BoBo (the runt with a stub of a tail and had hip issues). Beth later took on a stray cat, Tommy. Together, BoBo and Tommy were Beth’s pride and joys. Beth also had great joy in spending time with her daughter Angela and grandchildren Marissiah and Connar. They attended many sporting events, vacations, holidays and eating at one of Beth’s favorite places, Olive Garden, not forgetting the “Guatemala”. Her smile was infectious, her hugs were comforting, her cooking was amazing and her generosity goes without saying. A gem who left many heartbroken, not a “goodbye” but rather “see ya later”.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela (Standley) Walker-Springer and her children Marissiah Walker and Connar Springer; Michael Standley’s daughter, Tiffany and her daughter Aria; three step-children: Amy Vincent, Mike Olson and Matt Olson and their respective spouses and children; sister-in-law Barbara Olson and many other beloved relatives and friends.
Beth has joined her parents, Freda and Howard Eatinger; sister Glenda Schoening; son Michael T. Standley and husband, Curt Olson in eternal bliss.
Forever in our hearts and mind.
