Michelle Franklin, 47, of Afton, died Friday, July 22, 2022, at her home. Open memorial visitation will be 3-7 p.m., with family to receive friends 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 29, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston

Michelle Dawn Franklin was born Oct. 5, 1974, the daughter of Barbara Ann (LeMasters) Cundiff in Creston. Michelle graduated from East Union High School in 1992. Following graduation, she worked at Pizza Hut as assistant manager, then at Elm’s Club as a waitress.

On April 9, 1999, Michelle was united in marriage to Chris Darrin Franklin in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They lived between Creston and Afton. She later worked as an assistant manger at Casey’s General Store in Afton and worked at Burt’s Bar. She was a board member at Joyful Sparks Preschool in Afton. She went on to work at Wellman Dynamics in the X-ray department until her health prevented her from working. Michelle enjoyed going to a good casino, particularly if she had time to play the slot machines because she was always successful.

Michelle is survived by husband Chris Franklin; children, Jacob Franklin (Gracie Swaney) of Creston and Josie Franklin of Afton; a grandchild on the way, Kaladin Daun Franklin; mother, Barbara Cundiff; brother, Colburn Blazek of Spencer; cousins: Jeffrey Breanne and Harlow Demers of Jefferson, South Dakota, and Jenna Wittrock of Sioux City; nieces and nephews: Blake and Jett Blazek of Spencer, Casey (Jasmine) Emery and Blaire Franklin of Jefferson City, Missouri; uncles: Marlin Wittrock of Primghar and Patrick (Polly) Blazek of Tampa, Florida; other cousins; Andy (Pangnhia) Blazek and kids of Tampa, Florida and Chris (Kerry) Blazek and kids of Newport News, Virginia, and her mother and father-in-law, Phil and Linda Franklin of Creston.

Michelle was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charlie Cundiff, grandparents Roy (Daisy) Blazek and aunt, Jan Wittrock.
