Ed Hanson, 79, of Creston, died Monday, July 11, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. A Memorial Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. At Ed’s request, no public service is to be held.

Howard Edward Hanson was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Howard Elmer and Frances Virginia (Brown) Hanson. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School.
He was united in marriage to Connie M. Chase Jan. 30, 1960, in Iowa City. They settled in Cedar Rapids before moving to the Creston area in 1967. He worked at Culligan, a business of Connie’s family, from 1967 - 1989. In 1989, Ed began working for the Stalker family, including managing the Stalker Car Washes.
Ed is survived by daughter, Tammy (Glenn) Burgmaier of Creston; son, Heath (Nichole) Hanson of Creston; three grandchildren: Heidi Hudson of Creston, Cody (Sarah) Hudson of Norwalk and Holden Hanson of Creston; step-grandson, Dakota (Cheyenne) Burgmaier; five great-grandchildren: Haylee, Hunter and Hayden Brown and Camden and Carter Hudson; sisters: Kay Zook of Cedar Rapids and Sheryl Matus of Central City, Iowa; brother in-law, Rod (Kerry) Chase of Creston.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie in 2011, step-granddaughter Makayla Burgmaier and brother Dennis Hanson.
