Karen Larkin, 55, of Shenandoah, Iowa, formerly of Creston, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 14, 2022. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston.

Karen Louise Larkin was born Feb. 2, 1967, in California, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Phyllis Lorraine (Clark) Howard. Karen was raised and educated in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from Bahner College of Hairstyling and received her cosmetology license. Karen had been working in Omaha as a hairdresser for five years when she married Brett Wayne Larkin in 1989. To this union, two sons were born, Richard and Randy.
In 1992, the family moved to Creston where Karen worked at Bunn and continued cutting hair for her family and friends. Karen and Brett were divorced after 18 years of marriage and Karen returned to Omaha. She moved back to Creston in 2019 to be closer to her family and lived in Shenandoah the last seven months of her life.
Karen is survived by her sons: Richard Larkin of Utah and Randy Larkin (fiance, Peyton Larabee) of Creston; five grandchildren; sister, Collene (Paul) Sabaliauskas of Omaha, Nebraska; and by two nieces.
Preceding Karen in death were her parents and her companion, Tom E.
