Michael Quinn

Madrid

Michael Wayne “Papa” Quinn, 68, of Madrid passed away on Jan. 1, 2022. He was born in Creston, Iowa, on Aug. 20, 1953, son of the late George Wayne Quinn and Mary Jane Quinn. He died unexpectedly after two massive strokes five days prior to his passing.

Michael graduated from Creston High School in 1971. He studied Business at Kialua Junior College in Kialua, Hawaii, in 1973 and went on to get certified in structural drafting at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, in 1978. Additionally, he studied marketing management at Tulsa Junior College in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1982. He was the proud father of three children, Heather (Quinn) Colvin, Adam Quinn and Ryan Quinn.

If you knew Michael, then you knew that he always had an infectious attitude that could always put smiles on peoples’ faces. He was a great outdoors man, but mostly loved fishing. He was and always will be a Marine. He proudly served in the United Stated Marine Corps from 1970-1973. He loved the fact he served his country and passed that tradition of service along to his children.

Besides Scottish Terriers, he loved his family. This is especially true when he became a “Papa” for the first time. He made every effort to get better and healthier so that he could spend more time with Aidan “A-Train,” his grandson. He wanted to be the best grandpa he could be and he certainly was.

He was loved by his family and so many friends. He will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by both parents, his sisters; Kathy and Carolyn, as well as several dogs he loved dearly; Shadow, Maxi and Lakota.

Those left to honor his memory are his three children, Heather (Scott) Colvin of Boone, Adam (Elizabeth) Quinn of Boone, Ryan Quinn of San Antonio, Texas and grandchild, Aidan.

Michael received full military honors at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa, where he was laid to rest surrounded by family on Jan. 13, 2022. A Celebration of Life is to follow in the spring of 2022 where all family and friends are welcome.
