Craig Eugene Cox was born in Winterset on January 10, 1960, the son of Phillip and Esther (Agee) Cox. He was a 1978 graduate of Orient-Macksburg High School. He was united in marriage to Sharon Wearmouth on July 28, 1979 in Macksburg. Craig and Sharon met during Sunday school at the Macksburg United Methodist Church and have always attended that same church.
Craig was a lifelong resident of Madison County, rural Macksburg. He was a semi-truck driver for United Farmers Cooperative for 30 years. He loved his job and wanted to beat cancer so that he could go back to driving “his” semi. He was always there for his family and friends when they needed help. Craig enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being called Dad, Papa, Popper, Grandpa and Blue Papa. He loved working with metal and was a “Chevy” man. Craig also enjoyed his ice cream.
Craig is survived by his wife, Sharon Cox of Macksburg; sons, Kelly Cox of Macksburg and Nick (Caitlyn) Cox of Afton; daughter, Amanda (Ryan) Summers of Macksburg; and grandchildren, Landon Summers, Collin Summers, Emma Cox, and Eli Cox.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Esther (Agee) Cox-Thomas.
