Evelyn Mae Schrodt, daughter of Forrest Kirkpatrick and Mildred (Sparks) Haggerty, was born Dec. 13, 1934, in Brush, Colorado, and passed from this life Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at UnityPoint Health Methodist West in West Des Moines at 86 years of age.

Evelyn moved with her family at a young age to the Corning area, graduating from Corning High School. She was united in marriage to Harold LeRoy Schrodt Nov. 14, 1953, in Corning. Three boys blessed this union: Steve, Andy and Jerry.

Evelyn was an avid reader and writer of poetry and had several poems published in magazines. Evelyn enjoyed her flowers and birds, feeding the birds year round. She enjoyed baking bread and cookies and always had the teapot ready with cookies or cake when family or friends stopped by.

Evelyn always had a large garden and enjoyed being outside. She and Harold took vacations every year, enjoying going to Colorado. She loved her dog Glen and enjoyed trips to watch the stock dog trials. Evelyn was a hard working farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Those relatives who preceded Evelyn in death were her father, Forrest Kirkpatrick; mother, Mildred Haggerty; step-father, Lawrence Haggerty; son, Andy Schrodt; sisters, Betty Westlake and Joyce Stewart; great-granddaughter, Piper Jean Schrodt,

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory; husband, Harold Schrodt of Murray; sons, Steve (Laura) Schrodt of Altoona and Jerry Schrodt of Osceola; daughter-in-law, Ronda Schrodt of Murray; brother, Donnie (Janelle) Haggerty of Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren: Michael and Amy Schrodt of Waukee, Rivkah and Edwardo Romero of Des Moines, Hannah and Barry Tangney of Dunshaughlin, Ireland, Rachel and Andy Smith of Murray, Morgan (Cal Gruening) Schrodt of South Jordan, Utah; great-grandchildren: Corbin Schrodt, Weston Schrodt, Rozlyn Smith and Aliza Smith; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Nov. 24, 2021, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Murray Cemetery.
