Beverly “Bev” Butler, 89, of Creston, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. The service will also be livestreamed at a link under events at powersfh.com. Pastor Evan McVann will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Beverly Ann Butler was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Manning, to Herman Ruhde and Bertha (Armstrong) Ruhde. She attended school and graduated from Manning High School. Bev was united in marriage to Richard Mincey and he later passed away. Beverly worked as Chief Clerk at Massey Ferguson in Des Moines.
On June 21, 1975, Bev was united in marriage to Donald Clare Butler in Creston and they made their home in Creston. Bev worked several years with Carolyn Biere in child care in Creston and then at Production Credit Association for Bob Christensen. Later, she worked at Boyd’s Plumbing all the while being a wonderful homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston, served as President of Thrivent Lutheran Association for many years, and was a member of a bridge club in Creston.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Butler of Creston; son, Mark Butler of Creston; one brother, Craig (Carol) Rudhe of Texas; her sister, Shirley Phelps of Bayard, one granddaughter, Nicole Ott; two great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Keara Ott, seven nieces and nephews: Jill Miller, Emily Watson, Aaron Ruhde, Mark Phelps, David Phelps, Elaine Kapek and Mike Butler; special friend Michelle Elam; many great-nieces and nephews; other extended family and many cherished friends.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Zella Butler; her first husband, Richard; her stepdaughter, Crystal Butler; two brothers-in-law, Gene Phelps and Neal (Ruby) Butler; her niece, JoAnn Butler; step-mother-in-law, Helen Butler; and two uncles, Virgil (Lillian) Grandy and Clair (Georgia) Grandy.
