Daisy Bernice (Walters) Blazek, age 100, of Sioux City, formerly of Paullina, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at her residence. A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at the United Church of Primghar with Pastor Mike Cooper officiating.

A private family graveside service will be held at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

Daisy was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Creston, to Clint Walters and Dora (Johnson) Walters. She was united in marriage to Roy Blazek on August 3, 1947. She moved with her family to Paullina in 1959, where she resided until 2019, when she moved to Sioux City.

She was a member of the United Church of Primghar. She worked at Cherokee Mental Health for 25 years, retiring in 1985.

Her survivors include her children, Mike Blazek and Patrick Blazek (Polly); son-in law, Marlin Wittrock; her grandchildren: Michelle Franklin (Chris), Colby Blazek, Andy Blazek (Pangnhia), Chris Blazek, (Kerry), Breanne Demers (Jeffrey), Jenna Wittrock; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister Marie Denton (Lyle).

Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughter, Janet Wittrock; her parents, Clint and Dora Walters; her sisters, Darlene and Juanita Lester (Everett); two infants; her brothers, Willis and Willard Walters; her mother- and father-in-law, George and Esther (Vickers) Blazek.

In remembrance of Daisy’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made in her name to her granddaughter, Michelle’s Lung Transplant Fund; Michelle’s Lung Warriors, LLC; 302 Fieldstone Court, Jefferson SD, 57038; or to United Church Women, 465 Heritage Park Road, Primghar, IA 51245.
