Susan (Fulk) Agans

Susan Fulk Agans, 79, of Lenox, died Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston, IA.

A community celebration will be Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at the Lenox Community Center, with the family greeting friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 5 p.m.

Following the family visitation, a light meal will be served. A private interment will precede the event at the North Cemetery in Lenox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Susan’s family for a future designation to the local community of Lenox. Memories may be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Susan (Fulk) Agans was born in Creston, Sept. 23, 1942, to Patricia and Robert Gamet. She lived there until moving to Lenox in 1958. Susan married Ronald Fulk in 1964. To this union a son, Dallas, was born. After Ron’s passing in 1999, Susan married William Agans in 2003.

Susan was a dedicated elementary school teacher for several years in the Lenox Community District. Her passion for teaching and commitment to the smallest of details raised the bar for her students. She wanted them to succeed with the potential she knew was inside them and she was right beside them every step of the way.

She continued serving the community by volunteering on the EMT ambulance service as a front line worker and teaching EMT classes to new volunteer recruits.

Susan was a devoted wife, mother, friend, confidant and will be missed by those left to cherish her memory. Countless memories filled with lots of love, laughter and happiness.

She was preceded in death by Patricia and Marion McMath, Bob and Virginia Gamet, and Ronald Fulk.

Susan is survived by her husband, William ‘Willie’ Agans; son, Dallas; sister, Deb (Tom) Bender; brother, Mark (Lori) Hoffman; extended family: Deanna (Gary) Grider, Deb (Rick) Wilcox, Steve (Moe) Agans; several wonderful nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to those who cared for her toward the end of her life. To the ladies (i.e. angels) of the Creston Hospice house who brought many wonderful and comforting days to her and our family with smiles, laughs, and tears. The dignity, grace, patience, and professionalism they showed daily — we cannot express enough our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.

Susan will be missed by her entire family and many friends..

will remain in our hearts forever.
