Peggy Jean Kester, daughter of Paul C. and Ardella M. (Newton) Smith, was born March 10, 1951 in Leon and passed from this life Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs at 70 years of age.
Peggy grew up in the Grand River and Kellerton areas. She graduated from Grand Valley High School in Kellerton, with the Class of 1970. She had worked for Wellman Dynamics in Creston after working for 40 years from 1974 until 2013. Peggy was united in marriage to Tom Kester March 6, 2002, in Kellerton. They have made their home in Fontanelle since 2005.
Peggy was a loving and caring person. She enjoyed traveling, looking for antiques, her large flower gardens and was a big Elvis fan, traveling to Graceland on more than one occasion. In past years she enjoyed hunting and was pretty good. She will be greatly missed.
Those relatives who preceded Peggy in death were her parents, Paul and Ardella Smith; and sister-in-law, Diana Smith.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory; husband, Tom Kester of Fontanelle; daughter, Michelle Clark Lily of Afton; daughter, Holly (Tom) Schafer of Corning; son, Troy (Krystal) Kester of Bridgewater; grandchildren: Brian Welcher, Casey Welcher, Kaleb Dodge, Konner Dodge, Oakley Kester, Emmy Kester and Bailee Schafer; many great-grandchildren, brother, Russell (Mary) Smith of Kellerton, IA, brother, Rod Smith of Bedford, IA as well as other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Wednesday November 3, 2021 at 10:00 am with Pastor Monty Newton officiating.
Family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday evening, November 2, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Interment will be in the Murray Cemetery following the funeral
