Beulah M. McDonald, 94, of Creston, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 301 E. Townline Road in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. The service will be livestreamed at powersfh.com under events.
Burial, with family only, will be in the Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church. Beulah Mae (Pearce) McDonald, daughter of Charles Pearce and Nellie (Dice) Pearce, was born June 2, 1927, in Afton. She was educated in Creston and Afton schools, graduating from Afton High School.
On Nov. 28, 1945, Beulah married J.R. McDonald in Afton. They first settled in the Afton area, then in Orient for a time.
In 1963, they moved to Creston, where Beulah was a homemaker and a J.C. Penney catalog service tech. Later, she worked with the Iowa Department of Transportation in the driver license service office, retiring in 1985.
Beulah was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston and the Lake Shore Golf and Country Club Ladies Card Club. She loved to play cards, dance to the old big band music, listen to Lawrence Welk, cook lots of great dishes (especially pies) and enjoyed family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Beulah is survived by a son, Kevin (Lynn) McDonald of Westminister, Colo. and daughter Janet (Danny) Gutschenritter of Creston; sisters-in-law Ruby Dibel and Donna McDonald; eight grandchildren: Lisa (Russ) Everhart, Britt McDonald, Devon (Regina) McDonald, Bryan, Nicole and Matthew McDonald and Cole (Cassie) Gutschenritter and Jake Gutschenritter; five great-grandchildren: Haven and Briley Everhart and Mia, Josie and Jameson McDonald.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.R. McDonald, two sons, Roger and Dennis McDonald, a brother, Paul Pearce and a sister, Ardella Pearce.
