Betty Jane Fleming, 83, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Creston. The burial will be held after the service in Calvary Cemetery in Corning.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. Memorials may be directed to McKinley Park Foundation in honor of Betty Fleming for a memorial park bench. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Betty Jane Fleming was born March 10, 1938, in Carbon, where she also attended school. Betty enjoyed roller skating where she met her husband, Bob. They were united in marriage July 22, 1952, in Corning. They moved to Creston in 1961 and raised six children. Betty enjoyed doing ceramics with her friend Alvie Reed, cooking, baking her famous fudge, caramels, and buttermilk brownies. She was famous for her Thanksgiving dinners, WOW! Her favorite thing to do on the Holidays was to decorate and bake for her family and friends. She loved to watch the birds and animals in nature, her favorite was the red cardinal.
Betty is survived by her six children: Louise Fleming of Creston, Robert Fleming Jr. of Hiawatha, Patrick Fleming of Denver, CO, Mary Fleming of Creston, Gerilyn Fleming of Creston, Barb (Joe) Feld of Robins; her grandchildren: Jake Kawa, Ryan Kucera, Jessica Rundle, McKenzie Hoeger, Paige Feld, Amber Fleming and Robert Fleming; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Armstrong of Villisca.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents, Bert and Opal Walton; her brothers: Willis, Bob and her brother, Ronnie in infancy; and her sisters: Maxine, Lois, Claudette, and Connie.
Betty had a wonderful sense of humor, welcomed everyone she met, and cherished her time with family and friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
