David A. Krauth

David A. Krauth, 74, of Prescott, passed away Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr. A military funeral will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, as his body was donated to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for research.

David Arthur Krauth, the son of Edward Roy and Jessie Eleanor (Roberts) Krauth, was born June 25, 1947, in Red Oak. David graduated from Corning High School with the class of 1966, and from Southwestern Community College in 1993 with a sales degree.

After high school graduation, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent 18 months on the U.S.S. Enterprise CVAN 65 battle ship. After his honorable discharge in June of 1970, he began farming and continued to farm until 1990. Staying in the agriculture field, he worked for Crestland Coop, later for Gavilon, Helena, and Crop Production Services until his retirement in 2015.

He loved being with the public and loved spending time with family, from his children and grandchildren to all his uncles, aunts and cousins.

Left to cherish David’s memory are his wife, Julie of Prescott; children: Tony (Mikala) Krauth of Council Bluffs, Todd (Amy) Krauth of Urbandale, Jade Krauth (Patrick Freese) of Clarinda and Jena (Travis) Erickson of Cumberland; grandchildren: Kaden and Hannah Krauth, Emma and Charlee Ann Krauth, Brody and Kohen Erickson and Tate McDuff; sisters: Judy (Donald) Stout of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nan (Charlie) Knapp of Point Venture, Texas; brother Doug (Stephanie) Krauth of Storm Lake and many family and friends.

Preceding David in death were his parents; brother Denny of Boone; father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard and Annie Luther; brothers-in-law Alan Luther of Urbandale and Jeff Luther of Fontanelle.
