Fran Bruce, 87, of Creston, Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. A private graveside in Graceland Cemetery will be at a later date. Frances Lorene (Carlson) Bruce, daughter of Lester E. Carlson and Ona Pauline (Baker) Carlson, was born July 4, 1934, in Creston. She was educated in Creston schools.
On Nov. 5, 1950, Fran married Richard “Dick” Charles Bruce in Osceola. This union was blessed with two sons: Ron and Roger. Fran lived in Creston as Dick served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, they lived and worked all of their married life in the Creston area.
Fran helped operate the Carlson Color Center in sales and bookkeeping for approximately 20 years. At the same time, she was a great homemaker, making it her passion to raise and care for her family. She loved to paint and sew. Fran had formerly been active with the First United Methodist Church in Creston.
Fran is survived by her two sons, Ron (wife Barb) Bruce of Creston and Roger (wife Rѐna) Bruce of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Mike (Callie) Bruce of Creston, Jason (friend Stacy) Bruce of Greenfield, Emily (Travis) Turner of Creston, Courtney Bruce of Pearl River, Louisiana, Tara (Greg) Levy of Pearl River, Louisiana, Natalie (Eric) Lyons of West Des Moines and Stephanie (Nick) Harklau of Humboldt; 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lois (Rex) Daub of Creston and Sandy (Dick) Moore of Marshalltown; her brother Les (Sandy) Carlson of Creston.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dick Bruce in 2019, her sister Shirley (Dan) Scullen and brother Butch Carlson; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rundle and Jean Marie Bruce.
