Robert Frey, 76, of Creston, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at Creston Specialty Care. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Creston. Rev. LeAnn Robine of the Corning United Methodist Church will officiate.

Robert will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery, Creston. Open visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Robert John Frey, the son of Arthur Leon and Ruth Isabelle (Blizzard) Frey, was born in Des Moines on Sept. 28, 1944. Robert was raised in the Creston area and educated in Creston schools. When Robert was 20 years old, he was united in marriage to Rita Kay Dudley Feb. 27, 1965. The couple was married in the United Methodist Church of Creston and three children were later born to bless their marriage: Robert Jr., Aaron and Klisa.

Robert farmed and raised thoroughbred race horses. He also learned to be an auto mechanic and in 1974, he opened his own business, Frey Auto Repair, in Creston.

During this time in his life, Robert served on the Creston Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years. In 1987, Robert closed the business and retired due to a back injury. When Robert was younger, he loved working on and racing stock cars. He also was a motorcycle enthusiast and Rita and Robert rode over 45,000 miles together. Robert and Rita moved to Afton in 1996 and returned to Creston in 2016.

Preceding Robert in death was his wife of 53 years, Rita in 2018; his parents; his twin brother Roger; older brother, Leon Frey; a sister-in-law, Denise Frey; his nephew, David Marlin; his niece, Jackie Frey-Scadden.

Robert is survived by his children: Robert J. Frey Jr. (wife Cherie) of Gretna, Nebraska, Aaron Frey (wife Da Nel) of Creston and Klisa Lange (husband Greg) of Orient; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Donna Marlin of Creston; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
