Melvin Allison, 86, of North English, died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.
A Celebration of Life service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial was in the Piersol Cemetery, rural North English. Memorials may be given to the Iowa County Health Department.

Melvin Leroy Allison was born July 15, 1934, in Creston, the son of Clarence Lyman and Vera (Adamson) Allison. He attended Creston High School. Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He then transferred to the U.S. Reserves where he served over 30 years.
On Oct. 11, 1959, Melvin was united in marriage to Wanda Shirley Lamb in Creston. He worked in a factory for many years and owned and operated S&A Autobody.
Melvin was a member of the North English United Methodist Church and the Old Capital Coin Club. He enjoyed collecting coins, hunting, fishing, going to the casinos, wintering in Arizona, traveling and going for drives with Shirley.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of North English; three children Randy (Tina) Allison of Warsaw, Missouri, Sharon (Dale) Cline of Kent and Mark (Renee) Allison of North English; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Norma Thompson and Faye Leeps, both of Thayer, Mary Lamb and Fern Lamb, both of Cottonwood, Arizona; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Oralee (Bob) Fulton, Eva (Jim) Ludon and Wilma (Bill) Gilman; a brother Larry Allison; two brothers-in-law Donald and Dale Lamb.
