Hyatt L. Rice of Lenox, son of Fred and Bernice (Clark) Rice, was born Feb. 26, 1937, in Ringgold County and departed from this life Nov. 15, 2020, at the age of 83. He grew up and attended school around Mount Ayr and graduated from Mount Ayr High School.
Hyatt was united in marriage with Donara Pine, July 28, 1956, and to this union was born a son, Jeff. After over 32 years of marriage, Hyatt and Donara divorced. Several years passed and he then met Darleen Peterson. They married in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 17, 2003. Hyatt and Darleen split their time between Texas and their new home in Creston, spending six months in each location. They later moved to Vintage Park in Lenox.
Hyatt worked for Hy-Vee Food Stores from his high school days until his retirement in his 60s. He then continued to work for Hy-Vee in various capacities for a few more years and truly enjoyed the people he got to engage with on a daily basis.
Hyatt had a great love for music and dancing and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He lived life his way and didn’t let many moments get away from doing things that he enjoyed, always busy playing and making the most of his time.
