Robert Potter

Robert Lloyd Potter was born Feb. 16, 1964, to James Potter and Eleanor Barnes in Council Bluffs.Robert passed away in Kingman, Arizona, Thursday, May 20, 2021.

Robert was raised in the Orient and Creston areas alongside his eight siblings. He attended Creston High School and graduated in 1982.

In 1986, he was married to Corena Shepherd and shortly after he became a father to two sons: Braydon in 1987, Kyle in 1989. While working various jobs and caring for his family, Robert earned a degree as an electronic technician from SWCC. With that degree, Robert was able to relocate his family to Winona, Minnesota, in 1992. In 1996 he was blessed with his daughter Victoria.

After his divorce, Robert took a job for B.O.C Edwards in Minneapolis. This job allowed him to travel all over the world. He spent a lot of time working overseas and all over the United States. He especially enjoyed his time in Singapore and China. He called China home from 2002 to 2009. During his time in China, he met and married his second wife.

In 2009, Robert briefly re-established in Creston working at Wellmans. He later re-located to Kansas City, Missouri, to be close to his son Braydon. In most recent years, Robert had purchased some land in Nevada with Braydon and his dogs that he loved.

Robert will always be known for his infectious laugh, incredible intelligence, sarcastic sense of humor the biggest heart and the best hugs.

Robert is survived by his children: Braydon Potter of Elko, Nevada, Kyle Potter of Newton, Victoria Vrtis of Port Richey, Florida, his much beloved daughter-in-law Megan Potter, his newly acquired — but much loved — son-in-law Eric Vrtis; granddaughters: Nevaeh Kerns Potter, Janice Potter, Kohdie Potter; grandsons: Brendon West, Braydon West and Brielly Potter; his mother Eleanor Moran of Creston; brothers: Kevin (Kathy) Foutch, Mark (Tiffany) Foutch, Jeff Foutch, Ron (Karrie) Gepner, Roger (Brenda) Potter, Rick (Kenna) Potter, Ryan (Crystal) Moran and his “baby” sister Shelly (Ben) Potter-Johnson.

Robert was proceeded in death by everyone that died before he did.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. June 6 at The Eagles Club in Creston.
