Charlene Pierce, 83, of Creston died Friday, May 21, 2021, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
A Celebration of Life memorial and sharing service will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Tony McCutchan will officiate.
Open visitation from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. before the service at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com.
Charlene Francis Pierce, daughter of Charles and Thelma (Marvin) Pierce, was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Leon. She was educated in Leon schools. She had two sons, Douglas and Kevin Pierce. Charlene was a homemaker.
Early on, she worked at a laundromat in Des Moines. In 1983, she worked in Fort Madison at a hotel. Charlene had some physical disabilities that made work challenging. She worked for 25 years with her daughter-in-law April Pierce, in operating the Krazy Kids Korner Day Care in Creston, retiring due to health in 2011. Charlene was formerly a member of the Creston Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include her two sons, Douglas Pierce of Osceola and Kevin (April) Pierce of Creston; eight grandchildren: Ryan (Teki) Pierce, Chris Pierce, Haylee (Lucas) Carns, Meghan (Caleb) Case, Brandon Lee, Heather Brown, Robert (Storm) Branan and Bradley Scadden; many other grandkids throughout the day care years; 16 great-grandchildren.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Bill and Jimmy Pierce.
