Nancy Diane Abbott, 69, of Martensdale died peacefully Monday, April 19, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Nancy Diane (West) Abbott was born August 30, 1951, in Red Oak, to LeRoy and Janice (Isaacson) West. Along with growing up in Red Oak, Nancy’s family moved to Creston where she attended Creston High School and graduated in 1969.
While attending school in Creston, Nancy rode the bus to school with her future husband, Danny Abbott, who use to pick on her. After graduation, Danny and Nancy stayed in touch and eventually started dating in 1972.
That courtship led to Nancy marrying the love of her life Oct. 21, 1973, at the Methodist Church in Creston. Nancy and Danny started a family and brought into this world two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Danielle.
Nancy enjoyed being with her family. She had a love for all animals, especially cats and her grand-dog, Molly. But most of all, the love for her four grandchildren will forever be cherished. She adored spending time with Justin, Jacob, Kayleigh and Lane, attending their various activities and sporting events.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Janice West; sister Norma Smith; nephew Cheney Nolan and great niece Kasey Adamson.
The memory of Nancy will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Danny Abbott of Martensdale; daughters Jessica (Jason) Abbott-Bender of Martensdale and Danielle (Luke) Abbott-Klages of Indianola; grandchildren: Jacob Bender, Justin Bender, Kayleigh Klages and Lane Klages; brother Darwin (June) West of Creston; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, at O’Leary Celebration of Life Center in Norwalk. The family will be present to receive guests. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at O’Leary Celebration of Life Center, 1020 Main Street in Norwalk. Burial will immediately follow in the Linn Grove cemetery in Prole.
