Shirley Ann Bailey, 94, of Macksburg passed away Friday, March 26, 2021, at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital in Castle Rock, Colorado. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center in Creston, with Deacon Sam Sullivan officiating.

Open viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021, at the funeral home. The family request masks be worn during the service and visitation.

Burial will be in Moon Cemetery, Macksburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Memories and condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Shirley Ann (Wellman) Bailey, the daughter of George and Mary (Moore) Wellman, was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Colorado. She attended school in Englewood, Colorado.

On March 23, 1943, she married Leonard Warren Bailey in Alameda, California.

Shirley worked as a line worker at the Samsonite Luggage factory for 25 years. After her retirement, the family moved to Macksburg, Iowa in 1984, where Shirley owned and operated Bailey Cafe for many years. Shirley was also a devoted caretaker for her daughter, Dianne.

Shirley loved to tend to her flowers and take care of her yard. She was always very meticulous in her work and her yard showed it. She loved to go on drives and long road trips with her daughters. Shirley also made it a point to keep up the appearance of her family’s gravesites. Shirley will forever be remembered as a hard worker and having a deep love for her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Shirley’s memory is her daughter, Chris Steinbach (David) of Sedalia, Colorado; twelve grandchildren: Kenny, Bobby, Todd, Troy, Wade, Stacy, Renae, Mandy, Branden, Andrea, Gary and Scott; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary; daughters, Dianne and Carol; son, Gary; son-in-law, Ken and several brothers and sisters.
