Alice (Beam) Blevins, 92, of Creston died Monday, March 15, 2021, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. Celebration of Life Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Allerton Cemetery in Allerton. Pastor Cyndy Ripperger of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Allerton Cemetery in Allerton.
Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Social distancing and masks will be required. Memorials may be given to Creston Specialty Care or Presbyterian Church if desired. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.
Alice Louise (Beam) Blevins, daughter of Everette S. Beam and Carrie L. (Putney) was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Allerton. Alice graduated from Allerton High School in 1947.
Alice was united in marriage to Verlyn Kelley Blevins Feb. 14, 1949, in Promise City.
They were blessed with three children: Kathy, Keith, and Kyle.
Alice assisted at Grahams Department Store, doing window displays, style shows, bookwork and helping on the sales floor as needed, when her husband Verlyn was a store manager there while they lived in Leon, Corydon and Eagle Grove. They moved to Creston after her husband retired. Alice worked managing Triangle (Doll) Motel, K-mart and drove a rural route for the Creston News Advertiser, then later in the housekeeping department at Southwestern Community College.
Her last residence was at the Creston Specialty Care. Alice was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Creston and a former member of the Methodist Church in Corydon, Eagle Grove and Leon.
Alice is survived by a daughter, Kathy Buckingham of Leon; two sons: Keith Blevins of Creston and Kyle (husband Ladislav Pugel) Blevins of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren: Kelly (husband Brett) Konicek of Garwin, Bryan (wife Katie) Buckingham of Chicago, Illinois, Jake (wife Dariel) Blevins of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joel Buckingham of Kansas City, Missouri; six great-grandchildren: Austin Heltibridle and Dalton Konicek, both of Garwin, Bridget, Rosie and Matthew Buckingham, all of Chicago, Illinois and Reed Blevins of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband Verlyn Blevins, her daughter-in-law Patti Blevins, son-in-law Fred Buckingham and her brother R. Eugene Beam.
