Mary Bubb, 78, of Creston died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. Private Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate.

Private burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family will not be present. Masks and social distancing will be required and the service will be livestreamed on Powers Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the family to be decided on at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.powersfh.com.

Mary Margaret Bubb was born June 18, 1942, in Pattonsburg, Missouri, to Lewis Allen Ellis and Alice Lenora (McDaniel) Ellis. She graduated from Pattonsburg High School in May 1959.

During and after high school, Mary worked for the cap factory in Pattonsburg. Mary was united in marriage to Frankie Lee Hulett Aug. 29, 1959, in Pattonsburg, Missouri. To this union three children were born: Roger Lee, Debra Joyce and Brenda Kay. The family lived in Pattonsburg and Bethany, Missouri, until moving to Creston in 1967 and they later divorced.

On May 2, 1969, Mary was united in marriage to Leonard Paul Bubb in Creston. Together they raised Mary’s three children and continued to live in Creston. Mary started working for Spurgeon’s Mercantile as the office manager in October 1969, where she continued to work and make many close friends until 1991, when Spurgeon’s company closed.

At that time, she followed her dream of opening her own clothing and retail store, Country Fashions, which she owned and operated until 1994. Mary also worked at Farley’s (Trolley) and retired from there Nov. 5, 2010. Mary was a former member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational) in Creston and most recently attended Crest Baptist Church in Creston.

Survivors include her son Roger (Mary) Hulett of Kaiser, Missouri; two daughters: Debbie Angelo of Creston and Brenda (Jay) Bochart of Creston; six grandchildren: Kyle Bochart of Des Moines, Kayla (Chris) Reed of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Connor Hulett of Austin, Texas, Adam Bochart of Maryville, Missouri, Logan Angelo of Ft. Worth, Texas and Sydney Hulett of Mobile, Alabama; three great-grandchildren: Haylee, Bentley and Grayson, all of Jacksonville, North Carolina; brother-in-law Richard (LaRue) Bubb of Rossiter, Pennsylvania; four sisters-in-law: Emily Ellis of Stanbury, Missouri, Aleene Ellis of Pattonsburg, Missouri, Linda (Bob) Spare of Afton and Maria Bubb of Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Bubb in 1984, her parents Lewis and Alice Ellis, her three brothers: Lewis Allen Jr., Dale and Carl Ellis, two sisters in infancy, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
