Janice Harden, 78, of Afton, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Rev. Jim Morris will officiate the service. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be held privately in Greenfield Cemetery in Greenfield. Open visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are suggested to her family at C.A.R.E. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com

Janice Marie Harden, daughter of John Lucas Thomson and Florence L. (Brown) Thomson was born July 8, 1942, in Creston. Janice graduated from Creston High School 1960. She worked at a variety of places such as Strand Theater for two years and Get Plastic, both in Creston. She also helped her father on the family farm, doing a variety of different chores.

Janice and Gerald L. Harden were friends in their teen years, and on June 22, 2000, they were united in marriage. They lived in Creston where she attended United Methodist Church. In 2015, they lived together at C.A.R.E. in Afton. Janice was also a member of the Creston Eagles.

Janice is survived by her husband Gerald Harden of Afton; brother Ron (Sherry) Thomson; sister Dorothy Taha; her family at C.A.R.E. and other extended family members.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Thomson and a sibling in infancy in 1939.
