Michael “Mike” Joseph Miller, 64, of Johnston passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, surrounded by his family at his home.
Mike was born May 6, 1956, in Creston, to Mary Ann (Doige) and F. Gerald Miller. He was the oldest of nine children. A lifelong Iowa Cyclones fan, he graduated from Iowa State University in 1978.
He married Emily (Bjorn) in 1981 and they built a life for themselves and their four children; that took them to Afton, Clarence, Creston, Indianola as well as Greenfield. They ran the Tiger Drive Inn in Greenfield for more than a decade and he retired from Pioneer/Corteva in Johnston last year.
Mike loved family gatherings. You would always find him at the bottom of a huge “dogpile” of kids, wrestling or tickling as many at once as possible.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Emily; his four children: Sarah (Scott) Anderson, Andy (Jessica) Eagan, Joseph (Maricela) Miller and Adrienne Miller. He will be missed by his parents-in-law, Bill and Barbara Bjorn; as well as his 15 grandchildren; two sisters; six brothers and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19, no funeral services will be held, but a celebration of life will be held Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, the date of Mike and Emily’s 40th wedding anniversary.
