Jeanne Jones, 73, of Creston died Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at Greater Regional Health Center in Creston. Celebration of Life Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery near Creston. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Jeanne Ada Jones was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Creston to John Warren Riley and Lela Ada (Lane) Riley. She was educated in Creston schools, graduating in 1965.
Jeanne was united in marriage in 1963 to James Herbert Jones in Creston. Two children were born to the union. They lived on a farm west of Creston, where Jeanne was a homemaker. They later divorced.
Jeanne worked at the Union County Sheriff’s office in the 1960s and sold Avon in the 1970s. She also worked part time at the Sears store. In the early ’80s, Jeanne worked for Moberg Real Estate, where she worked for 10 years, then she sold life insurance for the next 10 years. In the early ’90s, she was head of classifieds at Creston News Advertiser and hosted/co-hosted the Everyday Living show on Creston Radio for 38 years. She also worked for Central Plains Electric for over 30 years.
Jeanne loved and enjoyed her family and friends very much and spending time with them was the most important times of her life. Her cousin and dear best friend Becky Hartman was the sister she never had.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Brian) Sobotka of Creston; her son Rod Jones of Creston; five grandchildren: Stacey Sobotka (Matt Thompson), Travis Sobotka of Creston, Joshua Jones of Des Moines, Austin Jones of Creston and Brandon Jones of Johnston; three brothers: Frank (Marcia) Riley, Gary (Darlene) Riley and Ron (Becky) Riley, all of Creston; eight great-grandchildren.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her father John in 2005, her mother Lela in 2008, her brother Gordon in 1998 and her aunt Lucille Riley in 2011.
