What a Terrific Tuesday it was if you’re a Creston sports fan. However, it wasn’t for the faint of heart. During the same hour, both basketball teams were left for dead in the fourth quarter against Hawkeye 10 rival Atlantic, and the No. 1-ranked wrestling team was seeking its second straight conference dual championship against Lewis Central without two of its most prominent wrestlers from last year’s state tournament. Somehow, they all came out on top.
This time the wait wasn’t nearly as long. After posting their first conference dual competition title in 27 years last year, the Creston/O-M wrestling team locked up another championship Tuesday night with a 43-32 victory over Lewis Central in a battle of Hawkeye 10 unbeatens. The Panthers had five pins and two technical falls among their eight wins, breaking a 26-26 tie by winning three of the last four matches.
