Residents invited to North Maple Street meeting

An informational meeting about the water infrastructure work on North Maple Street will be held 6 p.m., July 15 at Creston City Council chambers.

With extensive work planned for the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of North Maple Street, residents are invited to an informational meeting about the project at 6 p.m., Monday, July 15 at Creston City Council chambers in the Restored Depot.

Beginning 8 a.m., July 22, replacement of the water main located in those blocks of North Maple Street, and others on intersecting streets, will begin.

“We anticipate the work to take 80 working days. During this time, customers can expect disruptions in their water service. We will do our best to give customers a notice 24 hours ahead of time, however this may not be possible due to complications with construction. We ask for your patience and understanding during the construction period,” according to a statement from Creston Watewworks during the spring.

“As part of this project, the Creston Waterworks will be replacing all or part of each service line at no cost to the customer. If the service line is lead or galvanized steel, we will replace the service line to the water meter and access to your business/residence will be needed. If the service line is copper, the line will be replaced up to and including the outside shutoff,” according to the statement. Portions of certain streets intersecting those blocks of North Maple are included.

Properties that are part of the work are as follows:

West Adams: 201, 203.

Any re-surfacing (sidewalks, curbs, etc.) will be replaced in as good or better condition than prior to construction.

This work will also limit parking and restrict traffic, so expect delays. Pedestrian traffic will still be away to access businesses in the area. Creston Waterworks will provide more information on street closures as the schedule becomes available.
