As summer arrives and school years end, three Creston school employees are closing their classroom doors for the last time.
From the Creston Community District is second grade teacher Lori Mann. Mann has been in education for 41 years, and at Creston for the past 28 years. Her favorite part about being a teacher was the faces and reactions of her students.

“The look that you see on children’s faces or their reaction when they finally get something that they have been working so hard on,” Mann said. “All the giggles and fun you see in the students every day that tells you they are excited to be at school every day. The twinkle in their eyes when they greet you in the mornings.”
As she retires, Mann is looking forward to spending more time with family, relaxing and enjoying life.
St. Malachy is saying goodbye to a teacher as well. Angel Sorden has spent the past six years working part time as St. Malachy’s librarian and Learning Enrichment Acceleration Program (LEAP) teacher. Before that, Sorden taught in the East Union School District for 29 years.

Sorden’s enjoyed the atmosphere at St. Malachy. “I have loved the students and staff there, especially being part of a faith-based school,” she said.
Sorden is excited to spend her retirement spending time doing things she hasn’t yet had time to do, including traveling and spending even more time with family.
Southwestern Community College also saw one retirement, Senior Programming Analyst Martin Reeves.
