Ten types of prescription pills are seized during a search warrant early Jan. 4. The raid also uncovered methamphetamine and marijuana. Three people have been arrested.

Three Creston residents have been arrested after a drug raid early in the morning of Jan. 4 uncovered a plethora of prescription pills, methamphetamine, marijuana and packaging supplies.

According to Creston Police reports, on the evening of Jan. 3, an officer observed a male, identified as Ryan W. Feldhacker, 44, standing outside a residence on South Vine Street. The officer knew Feldhacker to have an active warrant. While speaking with Feldhacker, Alicia E. Lovell, 40, came out of the residence. She was also known to have a Union County warrant.

Feldhacker and Lovell were taken into custody on warrants stemming from a Dec. 27 incident where they were charged with burglary, first degree; criminal mischief, second degree and assault causing serious injury.

While officers were arresting Feldhacker and Lovell, a Union County deputy observed a male inside the residence walk from the kitchen to the living room with a marijuana bong in his hand. He set the bong in front of the couch, in plain view of the deputy. From there, officers obtained a search warrant. The man was identified as Kevin L. Cottrell, 42.

The search resulted in 66 charges, 22 apiece, 39 of them being felonies.

During the search, officers located several bags of a white crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine. Several baggies of what later field tested positive for meth weighed approximately 8 grams, including a rock weighing approximately 6 grams by itself. Also located with the meth were multiple digital scales and a large number of brand new baggies, items consistent with the sale of narcotics.

Feldhacker, Lovell and Cottrell were each charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver over 5 grams of methamphetamine, a Class B felony and possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent violation. Because of the amount of meth, an additional charge for failure to affix tax stamp was issued.

The search also uncovered multiple bags of marijuana, marijuana bongs, pipes, roaches and a freshly-lit joint. There was an odor of smoked marijuana in the house. Approximately 37 grams of marijuana was seized.

For this, the three were charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana under 50 kilograms and possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent violation, both Class D felonies.

Ten different prescription pills, five being controlled substances, were found inside the residence. None of the three have prescriptions for the pills located. The controlled substances found were: clonazepam, alprazolam, kadian, methylphenidate and vyvanse — two anti-depressants, a strong painkiller and two ADHD medications.

The prescription pills located that are not controlled substances were: cyclobenzaprine, levothyroxine, quetiapine, amoxicillin and doxycycline.

Charges from the pills were five counts of unlawful possession of prescription pills and five counts of possession of a controlled substance - pills, third or subsequent offense.

Since more than 10 pills were found of kadian and methylphenidate, there were additional charges of failure to affix a drug tax stamp.

Other charges stemming from the search were three counts of gathering where controlled substance are being used, keeping a premise or vehicle for controlled substance violations and possession of drug paraphernalia.

While Feldhacker was in the Adams County Jail after being arrested on the warrant, he was charged with the 22 counts from the search warrant.

Cottrell and Lovell were located in a vehicle on Adams Street in Creston on Jan. 12. Officers initiated a traffic stop in the Fareway parking lot knowing they had active warrants stemming from the drug raid.

While speaking with Cottrell, who was driving, officers noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath as well as slurred speech and watery eyes. Cottrell admitted to drinking earlier that morning but refused field sobriety testing. Officers located various open containers of Fireball inside the vehicle.

Cottrell was additionally charged with OWI, first offense as well as open container and registration violation.

All three are being held in the Adams County Jail. After preliminary hearings, bond for Lovell was set at $50,000; Cottrell at $98,000 and Feldhacker at $98,000.

There may be additional charges pending lab results.
