WCV responds to possible threat

West Central Valley High School received a threat yesterday around noon that was later proved to be not credible.

At approximately 11:38 a.m., Sept. 21, the Stuart Police Department was contacted by staff at the WCV High School regarding a possible threat that had been made. The school activated their evacuation plan as part of their protocol.

Law enforcement from various surrounding agencies responded and conducted an investigation. No evidence of a credible threat was found to ever exist. The building was secured and the area of concern searched by law enforcement before students and staff were allowed to return. Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement officers remained at the school for the remainder of the school day.

The Stuart Police Department was assisted by the Stuart Fire Department, Stuart Rescue, Adair, Dallas and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Offices, the Iowa State Patrol and Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management.
