Creston Community High School celebrates homecoming with a variety of traditional events beginning today. This year’s theme is dedicated to superheroes.
High school students will decorate hallways today in certain themes: seniors, Thor; juniors, Spiderman; sophomores, Batman; freshmen, The Flash. Students are also encouraged to participate in dress up days. Monday, pajamas; Tuesday, neon; Wednesday, evil twin; Thursday, dress as a favorite hero or villain and Friday is Panther pride day.
At 2 p.m. Sunday will be the volleybrawl in the gym followed by powderpuff football at 3:15 p.m.
The queen candidates will welcome students and hand out candy beginning at 7:45 a.m. Monday. During the week, queen candidates will be reading to students Tuesday at the ECC and elementary.
The queens will have a meet-and-greet from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the ECC and elementary-middle school. The candidates will assist with lunch at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the high school. They will serve lunch at 11:50 a.m. Thursday at the middle school.
Next Friday will have class competitions at 8:25 a.m. in the football stadium followed by a 9:25 a.m. pep rally. The hall of fame induction and queen coronation will be at 11 a.m. in the high school auditorium. The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. Harlan visits for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday. Fireworks will follow the game.
The homecoming dance will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at the high school.
Panther volleyball plays Saturday, Sept. 16 in the Red Oak tournament which starts at 8 a.m. Creston volleyball travels to Clarinda for a 7:15 p.m. match Thursday, Sept. 21.
Creston High will host a cross country meet at 5 p.m Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Southwestern Community College.
