Greater Connections Childhood Development Center has yet to reschedule their ribbon cutting and grand opening after canceling their original July 13 date.
Once open, Greater Connections, located at 1405 N. Lincoln St., will be partnering with the Creston Community School District to provide breakfast and lunch for children at the daycare. On Monday, the CCSD School Board approved the food service agreement.
According to the agreement, the district will make the food and deliver it to Greater Connections on school days. On non-school days, the food contractor will deliver the food to Greater Connections, where it will then be prepared. The price for breakfast is $2.05, while lunch is $3.05, both including milk.
Greater Connections was created with hospital staff in mind, but will be open to everyone.
“One of the questions that the hospital had asked their employees was what they needed,” Greater Connections director Melissa Zellmer said. “They had said, ‘We need childcare.’ The goal now is to help provide that childcare.”
Those enrolled in I Think I Can Childcare Center will switch over to Greater Connections when the new center opens. Being a bigger facility, Greater Connections will be able to enroll more children.
Greater Connections will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and accepts DHS/Childcare assistance. Those interested in getting on the waitlist should call 641-782-7117.
