Eight boys and girls from Creston, ages 9 to 14, were named local champions of the 2022 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level. Holy Spirit in Creston sponsored the local competition at St. Malachy School. All youth ages 9 to 14 were eligible.
Nine-year-old champions were Jamison Krantz in the boys division bracket. Hadley Purdum was the 10-year-old girls champion and Matthew Warner was the winner of the 10-year-old boys division. In the 11-year-old bracket, Janessa Pokorny was the girls champion and Gabo Kaufman was the boys champion. Twelve-year-old winner in the girls and boys divisions were Taylor Rohrig and Will Schaefer. The 13-year-old girls division was on by Kedly Bailey and the boys division by Rhett Driskell. Fourteen-year-old champion in the boys division was Jameson McDonald.
Each of these winners will compete in the district competitions Feb. 6 at Osceola with a chance moving to the jurisdictional and international levels.
