Southwestern Community College Dazzlers dance team took to Des Moines for their largest competition of the year on Dec 1. Since 1976, the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Association (ISDTA) has been hosting competitions and Southwestern Community College has perennially fared very well, this year was no different.
The Dazzlers came home with Division 1 ratings in both their pom and hip hop routines, while earning a Division 2 rating in their Jazz routine.
“I was overly impressed with the girls’ performances and awards received in the tough community college category. Our next performances include basketball games, area showcases and the Dazzler showcase at the end of February,” said first-year head coach Paige Busch.
The team performed in front of a large crowd during halftime of the women’s basketball game Dec. 3. They will be hosting the Southwestern Dance Team Showcase on Saturday, Feb. 26.
