Local AMVC employees win prestigious awards

AMVC Management Services recently held its 3rd Annual AMVC Awards Program in Des Moines to celebrate the company’s employees. The night was dedicated to recognizing individuals who have had an impact on AMVC. During the awards ceremony seven different awards were presented: Rookie of the Year, Swine Specialist of the Year, Rising Star, Manager of the Year, Legacy Award, Impact Award and Golden Pig Award.

The award winners were determined by peer nominations forms. A pair of third-party judges from the National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council scored the nominations. This year, 114 nominations were submitted across the company. Among the honorees were Amanda Winslow of Prescott and Dan Weber of Lenox.

Winslow was awarded the AMVC Legacy Award, an award given to an AMVC employee who dedicated at least 10 years to the organization and has adapted to change, embraced innovation, and has shown outstanding leadership throughout the years. Winslow is the sow farm manager at Taurus Sow outside of Creston and Aries Sow near Mount Ayr. She leads over 20 employees and manages two successful farms.

Weber has been with AMVC for 14 years and is a production manager. He won the AMVC Golden Pig Award in its inaugural year. This award recognizes an internal AMVC employee who provides outstanding service to the managed farms, finds solutions, and goes the extra mile for the farm and farm employees. He is responsible for the oversight of six sow farms in southwest Iowa. Weber is a great teacher and takes the opportunity to share his wealth of knowledge with other team members.

“When employees nominate fellow employees, it is neat to witness. It’s rewarding to recognize employees for doing the right thing every day and excelling in their profession. We congratulate Amanda and Dan for their hard work and commitment,” commented Alicia Humphrey, AMVC public relations director.

Each award winner received a jacket, engraved plaque and cash award.

AMVC Management Services, a diversified swine management company, is the ninth largest pork producer in the United States and is based in Audubon, Iowa. AMVC manages 150,500 sows across ten states and employs over 600 people.
