Colleen Raye’s Musical Tribute to Patsy Cline is coming to the Warren Cultural Center, 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26. Raye previously performed at the Warren Cultural Center in March 2018 with her show “Girl Singers of the Hit Parade.”
Patsy Cline and her music is more popular than ever and Raye’s musical tribute to Patsy Cline is a celebration of just that. As seen on nationally televised Midwest Country, Colleen sings Cline’s greatest hits like, “I Fall To Pieces”, “Crazy” and “Walkin’ After Midnight” and some lesser known gems including “You Belong To Me,” “Stop, Look and Listen” and “Eyes of a Child.”
Raye brings presence into the room, singing Cline’s songs with a heartfelt sincerity and skill that is rare, while also talking about Cline’s life with some interesting facts and “tidbits.” The mood stays light and nostalgic while Raye spices up the show with her natural charisma and sense of humor. Raye manages to get people laughing and singing but when she performs the tear-jerking love songs, you’ll find moist eyes in the audience.
The Midwest Wranglers, a trio of country musicians, including Norton Lawellin on keyboard, Bobby Vandell on drums and Dan Neale on guitar will be Raye’s backing band, with Dan of the band also performing some Roger Miller songs.
This event is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Group Fund, a program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Iowa Arts Council and the Crane Group.
