Dusty Davis joined the Creston News Advertiser editorial staff as staff reporter March 1. Davis will be covering Gibson Memorial Library, Greater Regional Health and Creston City Council news, and other general assignments. Davis fills the position vacated by Keri Anderson, who has chosen to move to freelance status with the CNA.
Davis, 23, is a Greenfield resident and a 2015 graduate of Nodaway Valley High School, who received his B.A. in English in 2020 from Truman State University. Upon entering college, Davis’s original plan was to become a professor and begin a career in academia.
“But I became disillusioned with that at some point early last year and I don’t think it’s something I want to do,” said Davis. “Then this opportunity came up.”
Davis’s first experience with journalism was his role as copy editor for The Index, a student publication, which he served as during his final year of college.
When asked what he’s most looking forward to, Davis said he’s interested in learning more about investigative journalism.
“That’s attractive to me,” he said.
Davis also looks forward to utilizing his photography and photojournalism skills to add more visual interest to the CNA and its other publications.
