Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield was the destination for Lutheran women throughout southwest Iowa Saturday, March 29 as they gathered for their semi-annual spring rally of the Lutheran Women in Mission, a women’s mission organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Following registration, the women called to order a business meeting in the beautifully-decorated fellowship hall. The various mission and ministry projects carried out by the women were discussed. Zone President Carol Hansen led the meeting.

The ladies then adjourned and gathered in the church sanctuary where Dr. Keith Schweitzer led a Bible study discussing the Lord’s Supper. The Bible study was very well received by the ladies.

Having returned to the Fellowship Hall, the rally concluded with a delicious lunch served by the women of the Immanuel congregation.

Schweitzer received a nice letter from Eden Keefe, National President of Lutheran Women in Mission, prior to the event, thanking Immanuel for hosting this event and investing so much time into it.

“The welcome foam board poster is very eye-catching and the printed invitations are a personal touch. Having been to so many zone events, and even planning some, this goes above and beyond. Having a lovely setting is certainly a way to show that you value their time,” Keefe wrote. “Another thing that I think will resonate is the book that will be used for the Bible study and then gifted to the women. It has been my experience and observation that our women are very mission-minded, and their involvement increased as their faith matures. Serving them by providing faith resources will in turn bless our respective ministries as they respond back in faith and action.”
