The Nodaway Valley track and field teams got a very early look at what their seasons will include when they competed at indoor track meets hosted by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches at Iowa State University March 13-14.
In girls competition, senior Maddie Weston was the highest finisher for the Wolverines, qualifying seventh for the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.37 seconds. She ran three-hundredths faster, placing seventh in the finals heat in 8.34. Weston placed 19th in the 200, finishing in 29.31 seconds.
Junior mid-distance runner Izzy Eisbach ran in the 800 and 1,500 meters races, placing 12th in each. She finished the 800 in 2:39.96 and the 1,500 in 5:31.06.
Allie Cornelison was 26th individually in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.28. She joined Weston, Kylie Nelson and Eisbach in the sprint medley relay to place 15th in a time of 2:06.39.
In boys competition, senior thrower Trent Warner took third in the shot put with a distance of 48 feet, 6 1/4 inches.
Distance runner Gabe Winkelmann placed 12th in the 3,200 meters (11:06.93) and 13th in the 1,600 meters (4:59.13).
Winkelmann joined Haden Colton, Luke Kading and Cheribum Mercado for an 11th place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (9:34.69).
The Wolverines compete again Saturday, March 22 in an indoor meet at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.
