Nodaway Valley FFA serving pancakes
The Nodaway Valley FFA Chapter invites the public to its annual pancake supper 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17 in the high school cafeteria.
The meal is for a free will donation. The event is being held in conjunction with National FFA Week, which is Feb. 15-22.
Legislative Coffees planned
State Rep. Ray “Bubba” Sorensen’s office announced he will be at legislative coffees that are upcoming across the area during the 2025 legislative session.
Coffees currently scheduled are as follows:
• 10 a.m. March 3 at Revelton in Osceola
• 11 a.m. March 7 at Olive Branch Family Restaurant in Greenfield
• 10 a.m. April 4 at The Dugout Cafe in Orient
Another legislative coffee or two may be scheduled at a later time. The newspaper will do its best to print the time, date and location of those events when they are announced.
Adair County Fair fundraiser Feb. 23
The Adair County Fair invites the public to its annual Soup Lunch and Auction Fundraiser 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 at the 4-H/FFA Center on the fairgrounds.
The meal of chili or potato soup, pulled pork sandwiches and pie will be served for a free will donation. A pie auction will be held with a bear wood carving also to be auctioned off. The auction will start at 12:30 p.m.
Greenfield Lions youth sports events
The Greenfield Lions Club has several annual sporting events planned for youth to take part in. These opportunities include:
• Youth and Team Wrestling Tournament 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 at Nodaway Valley High School. This tournament includes Pre-K through sixth grade boys and girls divisions. Register on Track Wrestling for $20 or walk in and pay $30.
• Robin Hood Archery Tournament 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Nodaway Valley High School for children fourth grade and older as well as adults. Entry fee is $12 for those 18 and younger and $15 for adults.
Fifth and sixth grade and seventh and eighth grade teams are invited to a girls basketball tournament hosted by the Greenfield Lions Club Sunday, Feb. 2 at Nodaway Valley High School, Nodaway Valley Elementary School and the Adair County Health and Fifntess Center.

Medals will be given for first and second. Brackets will include up to eight teams of 10 players each. Games will consist of four eight-minute running-clock quarters. A concession stand will be available. Games will begin at 8 a.m.
St. John’s Shrimp Boil
St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield has its annual shrimp boil scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Saturday, March 1. Tickets are $25 and include shrimp, potatoes, corn on the cob, mushrooms, dessert and beverages.

Many Hats Women’s Conference March 9
Registrations are due by Feb. 20 for a Many Hats Women’s Conference Sunday, March 9 at the 4-H/FFA Center on the Adair County Fairgrounds.
This year’s theme is “Love.” Organizers invite women from the area to join in for an afternoon of fun, laugher, education, treats and inspiration.
This year’s fun includes:
• Love Your Body: We only get one, let’s treat it right. Hear from Sami Britten, Lisa Rardin and others as they inspire to fuel our bodies and move.
• Love Your Community: Jennifer Garside, Jennifer Holliday, Jane Langguth and Beth Baudler Christensen will inspire and ignite attendees with stories of their journey.
• Feel the Love: Amy Stout will be this year’s in-person keynote speaker. She and her husband, Cory, are shepherds for Standing Stone Ministry, a ministry that provides pastoral care to ministry couples. She is an author, speaker and certified Biblical counselor.
• Love your Future: The future is bright. We want you to leave feeling inspired, ignited and ready to have a continued impact on your world.
Cost is $25 for women outside Adair County and $12.50 for those who are residents of Adiar County.
